This course covers high leverage/evidence-based practices to support the behavioral and socialemotional needs of students, focused on tier 1 positive behavior supports. Participants will learn strategies to create a safe, positive classroom environment: including practical implementation. The course will explore the classroom environment structure, teaching behavior, socialemotional learning, monitoring and observation, and interaction with students.

The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Pre-work will be required for this course.
